Introduction to Dr. Amrit B Saxena
Dr.Amrit B Saxena completed his MBBS from the prestigious St.Johns Medical College, Bangalore in 1998. Subsequently he obtained his MD in Internal Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 2002 and DM in Neurology from the same institute in 2005. He also obtained DNB in Neurology from the National Board , New Delhi in 2005. He has undergone subspecialty training in Myology at the Institut de myologie, Hospital Salpetriere, Paris. He further strengthened his acumen in neuromuscular disorders as an observer in the neuromuscular department at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and in the neurology and neuromuscular departments at Massachusettes General Hospital, Boston. He received his training in Single fiber EMG and Quantitative EMG at Kobe, Japan.
Prior to joining NMC, he served initially as Assistant Professor and Consultant Neurologist at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and then as Consultant Neurologist at a large tertiary care neurology centre at Hyderabad.
Dr .Amrit is well versed in managing a wide spectrum of neurological disorders ,with his main areas of interest being neuromuscular disorders, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy.
He holds professional membership of the Indian Academy of Neurology , including membership of its clinical neurophysiology subsection. He is also a member of the Neurological Society of India, Indian Medical Association and Andhra Pradesh Neuroscientists Association.
Dr.Amrit is a keen academician and has several conference presentations and publications to his credit.
Dr. Amrit is also on the editorial board of the journal Neurology India as associate editor and peer reviewer. He also has several invited lectures to his credit.
He has participated in several muticentre drug trials in Neurology as co-investigator.
Dr. Amrit has received many academic awards including International Scholarship award of the American Academy of Neurology, and the Best Research Paper award for Epilepsy awarded by the Indian Epilepsy Association.
He regularly updates his professional knowledge by attending conferences and focussed workshops both in UAE and abroad.
