Dr. Upatel is a German Psychological Psychotherapist with over 15 years of practical experience in the outpatient and inpatient area. In addition to practical psychotherapeutic work (with a focus on depression, burnout, couple therapy, anxiety and eating disorders), Dr. Ing. Upatel works as a lecturer and recognized supervisor in the context of psychotherapeutic education. Her research interests focus on Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which is characterized by excessive and uncontrollable anxiety.
Dr. Tanja Upatel was born in D?sseldorf and studied psychology at the Westf?lische-Wilhelms-Universit?t M?nster, where she also completed her doctorate in 2002. After completing her studies, she received a scholarship from the Christoph Dornier Foundation, which is known for its effective and intensive cognitive-behavioral treatment methods, especially in the field of anxiety disorders. She completed a three-year advanced training as a Psychological Psychotherapist at the Institute for Psychological Psychotherapy Training M?nster (IPP) and treated patients with depression, anxiety and panic disorders, eating and obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Upatel the management of the Christoph Dornier Foundation in Dusseldorf.
Subsequently, she took over the therapeutic direction of two psychotherapy stations of the University Psychiatry in Essen. There she deepened her therapeutic knowledge by treating patients with bipolar disorders, addiction problems, somatoform and hypochondriacal disorders as well as various personality disorders with an emphasis on the treatment of borderline personality disorders.
From 2007, Dr. Upatel, Hong Kong, where she worked for the International Psychological Service (IPS) with patients from all over the world in English and German. During this time, specialization was focused on the treatment of couple problems, burnout and general life crises, in which patients are advised, who are torn from their usual environment and have to find their way in a new country with a new culture.
After returning to Germany, Dr. Upatel her own psychological practice, in close cooperation with medical colleagues of the connected neurological and psychiatric practice.
She has been living with her family in Dubai for a few months and will be working in the GNC from now on, where she will advise and treat patients.
